There is only one place that Kettle Bridge Clogs are going to be on 1st May each year. This is the occasion when we dance across the Kettle Bridge, from which we take our name, over the River Medway at Barming.

2008 was very well supported both by dancers and audience alike. This was helped by a warm and sunny evening, in marked contrast to the rain earlier in the day – it certainly was balmy in Barming.

After the ceremonial crossing of the bridge, led by the Squire, the side performed a spirited set of dances to mark this traditional “start of season” event. As usual, a cake appeared apparently out of nowhere for all to enjoy. The final dance was the “audience participation” Churchtown which always proves to the onlookers that Morris is not as easy as it looks but is definitely great fun.

Next stop was The Bull at the top of the hill for a couple more dances. The darkness of the sky and the lure of the bar curtailed the entertainment but the season has now officially started!
