The St. Mary's Platt Church Fair had all the essential ingredients for a successful event -
  • A tea tent selling delicious cakes
  • A well-stocked barbecue
  • A variety of traditional stalls including a tombola
  • A display of immaculate Morgan cars
  • Beautiful weather
  • Ample, easy parking
  • Kettle Bridge Clogs

Our first stand consisted of performances of Annie's, Colne and Cossington followed by an invitation version of Churchtown which featured enthusiastic participation from some of the younger members of the audience. As always, this went down really well with the appreciative crowd. Between dances, while the ladies got their breath back, the band kept the audience entertained with some familiar tunes (so they tell me).

The break between stands gave everyone the opportunity to enjoy the stalls, with the barbecue and tea tent proving most popular. The latter provided a most welcome chance of a sit down in the shade with a refreshing cuppa and a tasty morsel to eat (especially enjoyed by John). The organisers had very kindly arranged for all the performers to have a free drink and this was greatly appreciated.

All too soon it was time for the second stand. The line up consisted of Prescot, Aughton and the ever impressive Yellow Rose plus a bonus dance for the audience to join in with, which they did with enthusiasm.

By this time, the fair was beginning to wind down so we made our weary way home again. Yet again a very successful and enjoyable day.
