We enjoyed a pleasantly warm evening for a stand with Headcorn Morris at the Woolpack Inn, Benover. There was one very familiar face in the Headcorn ranks as Barbara, a former Kettle Bridge Clogger, now dances with them. She has however maintained her links with us through our sister organisation, Kettle Bridge Concertinas, of which she is an enthusiastic member.

As Headcorn have both a men's and women's side, we each danced one out of three which provided plenty of recovery (and chatting / drinking) time between performances. As you can see from the pictures, the pub landlord had thoughtfully placed some up-turned crates in the car park to reserve our dancing area. How many crates in total can you spot in the photos? I made it 13, not including my car which can be classed as an old crate.

As usual, Kettle Bridge performed a variety of dances, namely Ealuscerwen, Aughton, Marston, Shawforth, St. Helens Gala, Lostock and Prescot. As you can imagine, this took us well past sunset (see the artistic picture above for photographic proof) and this is my excuse for the last few pictures being rather blurry — I was completely sober when I took them, honest!

The other highlight of the evening was that Margaret B let it slip that it was Richard's birthday so we all sang "Happy Birthday" for him. Apparently he had just returned from a trip to Bermuda (lucky chap!) and brought the band back a couple of souvenirs with him. So next time watch out for Pip who will be wearing shorts while playing a triangle.

Finally, a big "thank you" to Headcorn for making the evening so enjoyable. We look forward to seeing them later in the year at Tonbridge and Broadstairs.
